The cost varies from one facility to the others.
It costs an average of kshs.1,000 in a government facility and as high as kshs.12,000 in a private facility to do a Covid 19 Test.

Has The Kenyan Government Approved a COVID-19 Vaccine For Use?

Through the Ministry of Health, the Kenyan government has received 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. AstraZeneca and Oxford University developed the vaccine.

The AstraZeneca covid vaccine is the only approved covid vaccine by the ministry of health.

The Kenya government is now giving the vaccine to the health workers and essential staff, including security personnel and teachers

Is the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine safe? 

Yes, the vaccine is safe.
You are better off getting the vaccine than getting COVID-19. Recent evidence shows that the risk is very minimal, and the blood clot risk has been exaggerated.

If I have had COVID-19, is it safe to get vaccinated? 

Yes.  Note that studies show that most of you will have some immunity for at least 6 months from the time you had COVID-19.

If I have pre-existing conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, or being elderly, is it safe? 

Yes.  Your risk of complications is much less from the vaccine than it is from getting COVID-19.

Can Insurance Pay for the test – Does Insurance cover covid?

Many insurance companies have endorsed the extension of Covid-19 coverage to their policy.
Through the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), the government provided insurers with guidelines supporting those that may be affected.
Contact your medical insurer or broker to confirm if Covid-19 has been endorsed to your medical policy.

A quick review on the insurance covid coverage revealed the following.
Inpatient Coverage

Out-Patient Coverage
1.All expenses associated with COVID-19 testing are only covered if the member has documented COVID –19 symptoms.
The outpatient limit benefits range from kshs.10,000 – kshs.25,000.
2.Consultation and prescribed medication are covered within the outpatient cover limit
3.The consultation and prescribed medicine must be preauthorized at appointed and government-approved medical service providers.
4.Asymptomatic cases to be managed as per the home care management guidelines
